AFTER a recent China air industry summit in Beijing,it was divulged that China will have 300 civil airports by 2020 with five airport clusters - in the north, east, southwest, northwest and southern central regions of the country, Xinhua reported.

China plans to speed up construction of airports and invest CNY90 billion (US$13.2 billion) on the civilaviation industry this year. By 2030, over 95 per cent of all counties in China will be located no farther than 100 kilometres from the nearest airport.

Last year, China spent CNY60 billion on civil aviation. The number of airports obtaining operating license grew to 166 from 160 in 2008. The total of area of all terminals in China increased by 660,000 square metres.
