CARGOSMART, a global shipping and logistics software solutions provider has successfully integrated Ningbo's E-port systems to improve supply chain visibility and streamline shipment management over a period of three years.
The companies signed the data integration agreement last September and have completed an initial trial period. Ningbo E-port operations director Xu Wei said the integration with CargoSmart will improve the exchange of shipment data through electronic
data interchange (EDI) for booking requests, shipping instructions and cargo tracking for managing shipments.
Ningbo Port is the world's eighth largest port, with a throughput of more than 10 million TEU last year.
Ningbo E-port is a government-backed organisation that provides an information platform to help logistics service providers and cargo owners process imports and exports through the port.
"It is an honour to work with Ningbo E-port to improve the shipment visibility and competitiveness of companies engaged in international trade in North China," said CargoSmart spokesman Steve Siu.
San Francisco-based CargoSmart launched its services in October 2000, and has helped over 17,000 customers lower transportation management costs, streamline operations, and reduce the risk of late shipments.
