GUANGDONG provincial port throughput recorded a robust year-on-year growth of 20.8 per cent to 32.2 million TEU in the first nine months of the year as economy recovered, , Xinhua reported.

Cargo tonnage of these ports increased 18.2 per cent to 865 million tonnes. Domestic trade cargo grew 20.1 per
cent to 551 million tonnes. Foreign trade cargo climbed 15 per cent to 314 million tonnes.

The Port of Shenzhen has been thriving since this year and set a new monthly throughput record in August. The port lifted 16.9 million TEU from January to September, up 28.3 per cent, faster than the national growth. Cargo tonnage increased 18 per cent to 166
million tonnes.

Port of Zhanjiang, in the southernmost Guangdong lifted 222,400 TEU from January to September, up 41.6 per cent year on year. Cargo tonnage rose 21.1 per cent to 104 million tonnes.
